1. A cenosphere is a lightweight, inert, hollow sphere comprised
largely of silica and alumina and filled with air and/or gases.
Cenospheres are a naturally occurring by-product of the burning
process at coal-fired power plants, and they have most of the same
properties as manufactured hollow-sphered products.

(1). High refractoriness:
the main chemical composition of the floating beads is silicon and
aluminum oxide, wherein the silicon dioxide is about 50-65%, and
the aluminum oxide is about 25-35%. Because the melting point of
silica is as high as 1725 degrees Celsius, the melting point of
aluminum oxide is 2050 degrees Celsius, which are all high
refractory materials. Therefore, the floating beads have an
extremely high degree of refractoriness, generally reaching
1600-1700 degrees Celsius, making them excellent high-performance
thermal insulation; floating beads wall is hollow, the cavity is
semi-vacuum, only a very small amount of gas (N2, H2, and CO2,
etc.), heat conduction is extremely slow. Therefore, the floating
beads are not only lightweight (weight: 250-450 kg / m3), but also
excellent thermal insulation (thermal conductivity normal
temperature 0.08-0.1), which laid the foundation for its role in
the field of lightweight insulation materials.
(3). High hardness, high strength:
because the floating beads are made of silicon-aluminum oxide
mineral phase (quartz and mullite) hard glass body, the hardness
can reach Mohs 6-7, static pressure strength is as high as
70-140MPa, true The density is 2.10-2.20 g/cm3, so the floating
beads have high strength.
(4).the insulation is not conductive:
generally, the resistance of the insulator decreases with the
increase of temperature, the floating beads are opposite, the
resistance increases with the increase of temperature. This
advantage is not available in other insulating materials.
Therefore, it can be made into an insulating material with
(5). fine particle size, large specific surface area;
floating beads naturally formed particle size of 1-250 microns. The
specific surface area is 300-360g/cm2, which is similar to cement.
Therefore, the floating beads do not need to be ground and can be
used directly. Fineness can meet the needs of various products.
